Doula T&C's
As a doula, I accompany families through their birth preparations and assist them during labour, birth and immediately postnatally. I do not give medical advice, nor do I undertake examinations or perform any other clinical tasks. I cannot make decisions for you. I can only act as a spokesperson for you in the absence of your partner if this has been clearly stated in your birth plan.

I draw on my knowledge and experience from training, and from the clients I have been lucky to support, to provide you with emotional support and physical comfort. If the need arises, I can help you communicate with your midwife and medical care givers to ensure that you have all the information you need to make informed decisions during pregnancy, labour, birth and immediately postnatally. I can provide continuity of support for you and your partner, make suggestions for planning and preparing your birth and immediately post-partum.

I can make suggestions for labour progress, help with relaxation, positioning, and other comfort measures for labour and birth. I can safeguard your bonding period with baby. I do not come between you and your partner but rather support you both.

I can signpost to further reading and/or resources so you have all the information you need to make informed choices for you and your baby.

After making contact we will arrange a free initial call or meeting in person (for birth doula bookings) so you can ensure I am the right doula for you. Once booked I will then meet with you and (if applicable) your partner at least twice before labour as part of birth doula package or as required for Prenatal support and birth planning sessions. Additional antenatal sessions can always be arranged as required.

These meetings are used for getting to know each other, to explore and discuss your priorities, any fears, or concerns, and to plan how we might best work together. We will look at birth preparation and I acquaint you with some of the comfort measures and labour positions I have found helpful in the past. I want to become familiar with your birth preferences and I also want to know your natural coping mechanisms and how your partner and I could help with these. I can also signpost to further reading and/or resources on subjects you need support with. These sessions are completely tailored to your needs.

We can also keep in touch between sessions via WhatsApp messages, texts, prearranged calls or emails from booking up until the birth of your baby so you feel totally supported throughout your pregnancy.

As a birth doula my on-call period is for 28 days, usually from 38-42 weeks but dates can be adjusted to suit your needs. If you go into labour before or after I endeavour to attend if possible.

Please contact me immediately (24hrs a day) if you believe that you may be going into or are already in labour even if you don’t require my attendance yet.

After assessing the situation over the phone, we will decide together on the best course of action. Please keep in mind that I may take me 30-120 minutes to arrive depending on where you live.

Except for extraordinary circumstances, I will remain with you throughout labour, birth and bonding. If you transfer from home to hospital or within the hospital, I will do my very best to stay with you. If an emergency c section is required usually only one partner is permitted in theatre therefore, I may not be able to accompany you. I can help with the initial breastfeeding if you need some support.

I would like to get together with you at least once within two weeks after the birth to see how you are doing, admire your baby and listen to you and your partner’s story to debrief the birth. Subsequent visits will have been discussed and agreed although can be requested after the birth.
Payments
For Power hour calls and Prenatal birth planning and support sessions fees must be paid upfront and is non-refundable.

The Birth doula booking fee is non-refundable. In extenuating circumstances where I fail to attend your birth and this is due to my misjudgement or unavailability, the birth portion of the fee will be returned to you. But if my non-attendance is due to negligence on your part (e.g. you call me too late or choose not to call me) the full fee will apply. Full fee applies for emergency caesarean sections birth even if I am not able to accompany you to theatre. In case of Elective caesarean section where your birth partner will accompany you the theatre, I can support you before and after going to theatre and full fee will apply or the birth portion of the fee can be refunded. 28 days on call fee is non-refundable if baby arrives early and no extra is charged if you go over our 28 day on call period. For birth doula services I offer bespoke payment plans but full payment must be received before my on-call period begins.
